Our Story

Chabad of Amelia Island was established in 2024 to serve the Jewish community of Nassau County, Florida. Chabad is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation or prior level of Jewish knowledge. Our sole purpose is to create a warm, welcoming environment — a home where anyone can explore and experience the depth, warmth, and relevance of Jewish life, without judgment.

Since opening our doors, we have strived to meet the needs of our community through Shabbat and holiday services, classes, social events, and an array of programming year-round. There is no charge to come to Chabad. Come as often as you'd like. You're already a member — we all are.

Chabad of Amelia Island & Nassau County is a local, independent, and financially self-supporting organization. Every dollar we receive comes from the generosity of people like you. We are a 501(c)(3) nonprofit and all donations are fully tax-deductible.

The Katz Family

Rabbi Levi Katz

Rabbi Levi grew up in Miami, Florida, where his parents devoted their lives to providing material and spiritual support to men and women behind bars and serving in the U.S. military through the Aleph Institute. He studied Jewish thought and practice in Israel, Baltimore, and Brooklyn before receiving his rabbinical ordination in Manhattan.

His infectious optimism and joyful personality drive his commitment to every person he meets and his dedication to this community.

Mindy Katz

Mindy was born and raised in Key West, Florida, where her parents direct a thriving Chabad center. A passionate educator and talented baker, she brings warmth, creativity, and exquisite taste to every event and program at Chabad — and it shows.
