Our Story
Chabad of Amelia Island was established in 2024, to serve the Jewish community of Nassau County, Florida. Chabad is a place where everyone is welcome, regardless of affiliation or prior level of knowledge. Its sole purpose is to create a warm, welcoming environment to explore and experience Judaism's warm and relevant spiritual inspirations in a non-judgmental and inviting atmosphere.
Since its inception, Chabad of Amelia Island strives to meet the needs of the community with religious services, and social events, as well as an array of programming. There is no charge to come to Chabad. Feel free to come as often as you'd like. You're already a member. We all are.
Chabad of Amelia Island & Nassau County is a local, independent and financially self-supporting entity. Every dollar that we receive comes from the generosity of people like you. We are a 501(c)(3) organization and your donations are fully tax deductible.
Meet the Katz's
Rabbi Levi and Mindy Katz moved to Fernandina Beach and founded Chabad of Amelia Island & Nassau County in 2024.
Prior to moving to Fernandina Beach, Rabbi Levi grew up in Miami, Florida where his parents devoted their lives to providing material and spiritual support to men and women behind bars and serving in the US military with the Aleph Institute. He studied Jewish thought and practice in Israel, Baltimore, and Brooklyn, before receiving his rabbinical ordination in Manhattan. His infectious optimism and joyful personality drives his commitment and dedication to his community.
Mindy was born and raised in Key West, Florida where her parents direct a successful Chabad Jewish center. She is a passionate educator and loves to bake. She also has exquisite taste which shines through all the events at Chabad she plans.
